Toddler Beds are often sized like a cot bed (approx 140x170cm)
If your baby tries to climb out of the cot or your baby is more than 25% taller than the side rails measured from the top of the mattress, then your baby needs to be in a toddler bed for his or her safety.
Choose a toddler bed that sits lower to the ground this will help prevent injury should your baby fall out of bed, placing a couple of pillows on the floor next to the bed may seem like a good idea but there is the risk of your baby landing face down on the pillows whilst sleeping which could effect breathing, try a small rug or a length of foam.
Some toddler beds come complete with removable guard rails, although you may not find these very effective as they are often very small, adjustable universal guard rails are also available which sandwich between the base and mattress.
