Toy Boxes

Toy boxes are available in a wide array of sizes, shapes, and colors. They are an excellent addition to every child’s bedroom, as well as play room, and can easily complement the room’s décor.  When choosing toy boxes it’s important to select the size according to the storage needs of each room.  Large toy boxes are best for holding stuffed animals, balls, and other toys that tend to use a lot of space.  Smaller toy boxes and cubbies are best for holding toys with fragile, or breakable parts, and items that can easily become misplaced.  It’s important to consider how the child will retrieve items from the toy box and not just storing them to ensure you derive the most use from the toy box.

Older children can easily open and close their own toy boxes regardless of the lids the boxes have.  This provides plenty of options for elementary and teen-age toy storage solutions.  Choosing toy boxes that complement the child’s room is the best way to ensure that the toy box is viewed as a piece of furniture or room accessory.  Wood toy boxes are neutral and will complement any furnishing style present in the room.  You can also personalize the toy box with children’s names, favorite characters, or with hand painted decals.

When storing items, toy boxes are extremely useful, and can make organization fun, quick, and trouble free.  Children can learn from a young age how to put their toys in their toy box and will quickly learn to pick up his or her own toys.  When dealing with toddler and younger elementary children, however, it is important that the child can also access his or her toys when it’s time for play.  If you prefer that your child can’t retrieve toys without assistance then you might prefer a toy box with a lid, however, be aware of the possibility that your child might inadvertently close the lid on a finger or head if not careful.  When selecting hinged lid, toy boxes, take the time to instruct your child in the proper use and make certain they do not open the toy box until they can easily do so.  If you are concerned about the safety of toddlers and toy boxes with hinged lids, select those that have removable lids or toy boxes that consist of pull out drawers or cubbies.

Choosing toy boxes also include toy benches.  These are very similar to boxes however they might contain additional seating and resemble a small couch.  Many children will sit on their toy boxes and the parent might discourage this.  With a toy box storage bench you won’t need to worry about telling children not to use the additional seating.  A toy box storage bench is a great choice for those who have limited space available and would like to maximize their options by combining seating and storage in one convenient solution.

When selecting toy boxes it’s a good idea to consider portability.  Younger children might enjoy a toy box that is on wheels, making it easy for them to tote their favorite toys from one place to another.  These toy boxes are also handy for moms and caregivers, as they make clean up simple and easy.  Toy boxes are an effective storage solution and help create order and reduce clutter in children’s spaces.
